FAQs

  • This depends on your destination, personal health, your planned activities and accommodation. Also timescales differ between vaccines.

Book for a consultation as soon as you are able and then we can tailor the vaccination schedule to your needs, ideally 6-8 weeks before departure. If things are last minute, get in touch as many vaccinations provide at least some protection after just 7 days.

  • If you are fairly certain you would proceed to have any recommended vaccines, or if time is tight - it might be better to book in for a face to face appointment so that vaccines can be given the same day. An online travel appointment might be more convenient for you or it might be you would like time to consider the information we discuss.

  • You will be emailed a questionnaire to complete in advance of your appointment. This means we can really prepare for when we speak to you in your travel health appointment.

  • This will be in your GP medical records and should be available online if you have the NHS app. If you have had previous vaccinations either in the military or in another private clinic and are not sure - you may have to approach them to ask.

  • How about booking in for an online consultation to run through your medical information so it can be done in a place you are comfortable and then have your vaccine another day so you are in the clinic for a shorter time? Our staff are all highly trained and experienced. Tell us if you are worried about having your vaccine or your blood test as it might be more comfortable for you to lie down whilst the blood is taken or vaccine given.

  • Any medication can cause side effects. This is usually outweighed by the risk of the disease. Common side effects include fever and discomfort at the injection site. Some people may feel under the weather or tired. Some vaccinations have particular side effects and these will be discussed at your appointment if relevant.

  • Vaccines do not provide complete protection for everyone. This varies between different people, and could be due to the individual's health state. Some vaccinations provide lifetime cover but some vaccines need to be given again as a booster injection.

  • We would not recommend this is done routinely.

  • These will be available within 5 working days and usually much sooner than this.

  • All staff check their temperature before work and will be wearing PPE. Please do not arrive more than 20 minutes early for your medical and please do not bring anyone with you to your appointment. Your temperature will be checked upon arrival and if you do not have a mask, you will be given one to wear. Equipment and examination areas are cleaned between appointments.

  • We ask for 48 hours notice within the working week to be able to provide a full refund of your booking.

  • For travel health consultations we ask for a set fee for the appointment. If you proceed to have any vaccines, this cost will be offset against the cost of your vaccines. We will provide you with a price before proceeding with any vaccination.

  • There is a fee for phlebotomy services and also then laboratory fees. These are different for each different blood test. We will provide you with a quote before undertaking any tests.

  • We do not currently but are looking to do so in the future.

  • Please get in touch with us to discuss what you need and we will do our best to arrange it for you.

  • We do not provide private GP services but can provide your GP with results of any blood tests or vaccines you receive with us.
